Consett is a small town in the North West of County Durham formerly famous for its iron and steel works which closed in 1980. Consett Brass was formed in 1973 in Consett Junior School.The organisation consists of three bands: Consett Brass, Consett Youth and Consett Junior Brass with some seventy players in all. We are a community organisation and unlike the majority of brass bands we do not enter competitions.

The band’s objectives are to provide the opportunity for the players to entertain and support the local community and to travel. After more than 30 years of continual work within the community and a number of foreign tours including Australia, Canada and Europe we believe that our objectives are being met
